Ibn al-Qayyim [رحمه الله] said: «فأفضل الصائمين أكثرهم ذكراً لله عز وجل في صومهم.» – “The best of those who fast are those who remember Allaah Azza Wa Jal the most in their fast.” — Al-Waabil As-Sayyib, pg. 153 

 

I’ve realized that a verse in the Quran will never really hit you until Allah Azwajjal puts you through a trial in your life that makes the verse resonate in a whole new way. In today’s blog post, I just wanted to share 20 of my favourite verses from the Quran. I pray that your Ramadan is productive and beneficial God Willing.

  1. الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ — “Those who believe, and whose hearts find contentment in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find contentment.” [13:28]
  2. لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ —  “If you are grateful, i shall most certainly give you more.” – Surat Ibrahim [14:7]
  3. فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ —  “Then surely I am near.” [ 2:186]
  4. رَبِّ ابْنِ لِي عِندَكَ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ — My Lord, build for me near You a house in Paradise. [66:11]
  5. مَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِهِ عَلِيمًا — And whatever you do of good then indeed, Allah is about it All-Knowing. [4:127]
  6. وَاصۡبِرۡ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُضِيۡعُ اَجۡرَ الۡمُحۡسِنِيۡنَ‏ – And be patient; for indeed Allah never lets the reward of those who do good go to waste. [11:115]
  7. لا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّ — “Despair not of the Mercy of Allah.” – [39:53]
  8. أَحْسِن كَمَا أَحْسَنَ اللَّ — “And do good as Allah has been good to you.” – [28:77]
  9. وَلَـلۡاٰخِرَةُ خَيۡرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ الۡاُوۡلٰىؕ‏ — Indeed what is to come will be better for you than what has gone by.” – [93:4]
  10. وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡۤ اَنۡشَاَ لَـكُمُ السَّمۡعَ وَالۡاَبۡصَارَ وَالۡاَفۡـئِدَةَ​  ؕ قَلِيۡلًا مَّا تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ‏ — “And it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.” –  [23:78]
  11. نۡ يَّنۡصُرۡكُمُ اللّٰهُ فَلَا غَالِبَ لَـكُمۡ​ۚ وَاِنۡ يَّخۡذُلۡكُمۡ فَمَنۡ ذَا الَّذِىۡ يَنۡصُرُكُمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِهٖ ​ؕ وَعَلَى اللّٰهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ الۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ — “If Allah helps you none shall prevail over you; if He forsakes you then who can help you? It is in Allah that the believers should put their trust.” [3:160]
  12. اَصْبِرْ ، صَبْراً جَمِيْلاً — “So be patient, with a beautiful patience.” [70:5]
  13. وَلَا يَحْزُنْكَ قَوْلُهُمْ  — ““Do not let their words sadden you” [10:65]
  14. بَّنَا اغۡفِرۡ لِىۡ وَلـِوَالِدَىَّ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ يَوۡمَ يَقُوۡمُ الۡحِسَابُ‏ — “Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.” [14:41]
  15. أَنِّي مَسَّنِي الضُّرُّ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ — “Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful.” [21:83]
  16. حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ — “Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of Affairs.” [3:173]
  17. رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ — “My Lord! Truly, I am in need of whatever good that you bestow on me.” [28:24]
  18. وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ — “And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him.        [65:3]
  19. الْأَخِلَّاءُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا الْمُتَّقِينَ — “Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous” [43:67]
  20. وَإِن تَجْهَرْ بِالْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى — “And if you utter the saying aloud, then surely He knows the secret, and what is yet more hidden.” [20:7]
